Executive Director

Cress Goodnight serves as Executive Director of Rowan Helping Ministries, bringing more than two decades of experience in nonprofit healthcare and organizational leadership. His career includes senior leadership roles with PT Solutions and Novant Health, and a professional foundation as a physical therapist. He earned his undergraduate degree in Economics from NCSU, holds a Master of Business Administration from Fayetteville State University, a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from Marymount University, and a Transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy from Winston‑Salem State University.

A native of Rowan County, Cress is deeply rooted in our community and dedicated to its wellbeing. He has served on the Rowan County Planning Board, the Rowan‑Cabarrus YMCA Corporate Board, the North Carolina Physical Therapy Association, the Rowan‑Cabarrus Community College Physical Therapist Assistant Program Advisory Group and is a graduate of Leadership Rowan. His personal experiences as a foster and adoptive parent have further shaped his belief in the importance of stability, compassion, and opportunity for every person.

As Executive Director, Cress is committed to advancing Rowan Helping Ministries’ mission of serving neighbors experiencing crisis, homelessness, and poverty. He works alongside our team, volunteers, and community partners to expand access to housing, strengthen supportive services, and help people move toward stability, independence, and renewed hope with the ultimate goal to break the cycle of crisis.
