Kyna S. Grubb
Executive Director
Kyna S. Grubb has served as executive director of Rowan Helping Ministries since 2010. She has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, is a Certified Public Accountant, and worked previously for Food Lion, serving in accounting, forecasting and community affairs roles.
In her present position, Mrs. Grubb has engaged community leaders in a $7 million expansion project which added a new homeless shelter and kitchen facility in 2014, has overseen renovation of the original facility, has added three permanent supportive housing units, and has increased educational and employment opportunities for clients.
In 2018, she oversaw the integration of the Food for Thought nonprofit organization into the family of programs within Rowan Helping Ministries. This assimilation allowed the program to double in size in two years. The program provides weekend food bags for children to take home from school on Fridays.
Mrs. Grubb has established new partnerships with Rowan County non-profits to improve local citizens services and access to services in the community. During 2020, Mrs. Grubb facilitated collaborations with the Rowan County Public Health and Emergency Management Services, Meals on Wheels, City of Salisbury, Rowan County, Hood Theological Seminary, and others to ensure continued and safe services to homeless citizens. She continues to partner with Healthy Rowan and other organizations on a healthy food initiative and with Cabarrus Rowan Community Health Centers to offer counseling and treatment onsite for clients with mental health and substance abuse issues.
A native of Salisbury, Mrs. Grubb received her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting in 1989. At Catawba, she graduated Cum Laude and was a member of Alpha Chi Honor Society and named to the President’s List.
She worked for Tanner Companies in Rutherfordton, NC in three roles from 1993 – 2000.
Mrs. Grubb is a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she is a Youth Advisor and a senior high Sunday School teacher. She is on the North Hills Christian School Board of Directors, and is a member of the Salisbury Rotary Club, she has served on the Catawba College’s Ralph W. Ketner School of Business Advisory Board and on the Board of Directors for the Masonic Home for Children in Oxford, NC.
